Ground

The human body is subjected to gravity. The way we are in touch with the earth is through the surface, i.e. the ground. As a platform, the ground does not take part in the activity; it is a passive field. Our approach is to activate the physical as well as the latent metaphysical notions that are tied to it.

Asphalt is used as the medium to comment on various relations between human and the surroundings. The physical and abstract nature of asphalt are transformed into bodies of emptiness and weight. Through sculptural gestures and installations, borders, societal relationships and awareness of place versus experience are questioned.
