26 Strokes in Cava

2016

Cava, is a typeface developed by Yunrubin in Barcelona autumn 2015.

Cava refers to ‘cave/cellar’ in Catalan. In caves, human beings first attempted to convey ideas in the form of pictures. The typeface pays tribute to the relations between the developments of art and writing. Deriving from the latin alphabet, with Yunrubin’s logo as a grid and tool, a set forms were created.

With constrasting angles and open counters, Cava exudes an air of musicality, celebrating the expression of letters as pure abstract forms as well as rhythmic constructions within a semiotic system.

On the occasion of SingaPlural, Singapore Design Festival, 7-13 March 2016, Yunrubin presents 26 Strokes in Cava—an inquiry that juxtapose the consciousness of communication and the abstraction of forms.
